Walnut Blasting
Walnut Blasting in Holbeach, Spalding - Godfrey's Automotive Services
Mercedes, BMW, VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat TFSI/FSI and TDI engines are direct injections, as this process allows for advantages in fuel consumption as compared to conventional fuel injection. However, the disadvantage of this is that the intake valves are only in contact with air and blow by gases from the crankcase breathing circuit. Over time, these lead to deposits of carbon in the intake tract as well as on the intake valves themselves. This can have a detrimental effect on engine efficiency. If the valves are heavily carbonised, they may not close properly anymore and symptoms such as rough idle and poor throttle response can be observed, it may also contribute to increased oil consumption.
Our walnut blasting machine uses pressurised air to inject fine walnut shell granules into the intake tract. These granules hit the carbon dust and remove it entirely, whilst at the same time this material is soft enough not to damage the metal of the intake tract and the valves.
Every modern engine over 30,000 miles will be suffering from this to some degree. Carbon deposits are tough and difficult to remove. Bathing the engine in cleaning fluids will often not be enough to solve the issue effectively. Walnut blasting the intake system provides a much more effective solution to the issue.
